Germaine told me that her mum-in-law Sue and sis-in-law Louise also wanted to tailor their cheongsam in Malaysia. The process for this is slightly different from the bridesmaid dresses.

Get sample images on preferred colours and design
First, I had to find out what colours and design the ladies liked. It took about one to two months for the ladies to surf online and send over images of selected colours and design. Sue wanted electric blue, while Louise liked green (images below).




I took the images to Emerald Brilliant, and tried to match the images with the exisiting fabrics and designs available in the shop. After identifying those that are closest to the patterns, I took snapshots of these fabrics and asked the shop for a rough estimates on the cost to tailor make short and long dresses.

Details of a cheongsam
I presented my snapshots of actual colours and designs available from the shop to the ladies, and asked them to choose. Making a cheongsam is totally different from that of a normal dress. One has to also pay attention to details such as buttons...

After finalizing on the details with the ladies, including the specific cut (chest, sleeves, back) and collars preferred, and getting their measurements, I compiled and communicated all details to Emerald Brilliant.
